The Small Things

I thought this might be a good place to practice talking about me.  I am so bad at this.  I can brag on other people and how good they are at things, but I can never talk about myself.  So, having said that, I wanted to start with a small thing.  About 2 weeks ago I had a friend come and visit for a few days.  I haven't had a lot of opportunities to practice what I know on anyone except my husband and kids. I noticed she had a joint brace on her elbow when she arrived but didn't speak of it much.  The next day I got my brand new Touch for Health chart in the mail and she was looking at it with me and we were discussing natural healing and good eating choices and so on, so she asked if I could do anything for her arm.  YESSSS!!!!  A new victim!!  I used my awesome Reiki skills on it and told her to take the brace off so it wouldn't rub a sore on her arm.  She held it still for the rest of the day and that evening we worked on it again.  She is so funny, she said, "I can't believe I just went to bed and right to sleep.  I haven't slept without that arm waking me for several days."  I don't know if she was amazed that it worked or amazed that I could do it.
I love doing what I do for people.  When they feel better because of some little something I can do for them, it gives me great feeling.

Today is the First Day of Forever

Today is the First Day of Forever

With the beginning of Spring and the end of 2 years of college I am FINALLY SOMEBODY!!!  Now I have created this blog to share that somebody with all of you.  I am finishing the final 3 weeks of my studies in Complementary Alternative Medicine and will have my AACAM in May.  I can't believe I finally did it. I have developed an interest in this type of work over the past 15 years as I have worked with friends and family members that have or had ailments or concerns that the doctor just didn't know what to do with.  We have a boy who is autistic, we had a daughter who died of Trisomy 13 and I also have the opportunity to work with our children who have everything from stomach aches to acne, to PMS.

Alternative medicine is a title for things that are not included in Western Medicine (what your primary care provider offers).  Such as, aromatherapy, reiki, reflexology, Touch for Health, acupressure, meditation,  Bach flower essence, and many others.  I have a real passion for these things and believe them to be helpful in many aspects of life.

In studying these different modalities I have come to learn that alternative medicine is ever increasing in popularity when a person is being treated by their primary care provider.  Therefore it is "complimentary" to what a doctor prescribes. Alternative methods can help with the smallest things as well, aching muscles, colicky babies, sore feet, or just a plain bad day.

The other thing that I have come to understand is "For as he thinketh in his heart so is he..." Proverbs 23:7. What we think has a profound affect on who we are or who we become.  Life is full of chances to be negative and point a finger at someone else, but those actions can and do make us literally sick. The mind is everything and when we feed it junk it can produce junk in the form of problems in the whole body.  I want to point out the title of this page, Today IS the first day of forever and so we must make the most of it in all that we do, never looking back with regret or despair. We have today and forever forward to be the best that we can be.

I hope this is a great start to something new and exciting for all of you.  I look forward to sharing with you my thoughts ideas and recipes for a healthier, fun and active lifestyle.

Best wishes,
